Also, quite the humidex, even in the interior. Salmon Arm is the same temperature as Victoria, but is actually more humid, making it feel like 38...

If only the official Vancouver station was actually in the city they'd be breaking records too.

YVR is essentially equivalent to Victoria Harbour which is sitting at a relatively cool 20.2c right now.

He's become something of a troll in the last decade. Quite disappointing.
It's called clown range for a reason.

He’s actually right on this and he doesn’t deny climate change does he?

Yeah, I only pay much attention to him ahead of an actual event, but ignore the rest of his rhetoric.

Finally somebody takes Cliff Mass to task. He's obviously a good meteorologist but no concept of climatology.

Cliff Mass is basically right. Summer extremes have warmed like 0.3C in the past 150 years. When Victoria breaks the all time record by 2.5C, we can take off 0.3C because of climate change, it's still an all time record. To link this event to climate change is to give license to deniers to link extreme cold snaps to there being no climate change. Or to give license to those who say, "but look at 1936, 1941, etc. heatwaves... see fewer extremes today," which in turn creates more deniers. It only makes sense to talk about climate change after the storm has passed and emotions have died down. Only then can there be rational discussions.

He’s not even that good as a meteorologist anymore. For last February’s snow event, he was pushing his own pet model, ignored contrary guidance from the GFS and ECMWF, and busted hard.

Not a meanie, just less than honest and deserving to be held to account for it.
