I think there is a good chance Abbotsford and or Chilliwack records a humidex of 50C Monday. If so, would this be a Canadian record?

I wonder if the ground is still giving off heat, and maybe that is why? Unless the White Rock station is at sea level.

I think the Canadian record is closer to 55c but not 100% sure.

Record for disgusting, that is for sure. Why can't we get -38 in winter?

@Bonovox or @Jr, could you post the 00z NBM and Euro maps? Don't need the temp plots, just the geographical one is fine.

There's a couple South Surrey stations ,one on EC app and another on my tablet weather app, both also at 23°. I'm sure having my thermometers next to the condo building doesn't help.

Based off the temp output on the 00z GFS, NAM, ICON and HRDPS, it's possible we see some locales in the valley make a run for the all time BC record (44.4c) on Monday.

The bugs you guys are talking about are chafer beetles. It's their mating season. They stay in the ground as larva over winter/spring until they mature into beetles and then for about a week in June they emerge and fly to the tops of trees in droves to have one big orgy. Then they'll go back into the ground, lay eggs and the whole thing starts again. The main issue with these beetles is that raccoons and birds LOVE to eat them and this time of year they can have a feast. So they will damage lawns by peeling up large areas of grass to eat. If you see any parts of your yard dug up it's likely due to a large number of chafer beetles enticing other wildlife to gorge themselves.

Bugs are gross.
