Not the least bit surprised. No rain in sight and holiday weekend coming up.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
When I first moved to the Northwest, I was always envious of how much cooler Vancouver apparently was (compared to Seattle) during heat waves, and wondered why this was so. Then I visited Vancouver during a heat wave. It was surprisingly toasty, and got toastier the further east I went. (I remember the difference being quite noticeable between the West End and Chinatown.) And the official high that day, recorded at CYVR, was probably 23 or 24 degrees C. At that moment the mystery was solved.
It's called clown range for a reason.

The cooldown here is happening really slowly tonight, compared to the last two nights.

Down to 39.1c now @7pm.
Temp continues to creep up in the house though - up to 36.0c! Will probably open up the windows around 8-9 once the outside temp drops below 36c.

I bet you 99% of people who see those Vancouver obs on the news or online probably think the same if they haven't been here.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 7:10 pm When I first moved to the Northwest, I was always envious of how much cooler Vancouver apparently was (compared to Seattle) during heat waves, and wondered why this was so. Head just 1-2km inland at times in the summer and the temp can jump up by 5c. Plenty of times we've seen 22-23c at YVR while it's 10c hotter in the eastern suburbs.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Works in reverse usually for cold temps and snow as well. ANYWHERE with a bit of elevation could have snow, but the airport at sea level will have rain. This is even WORSE because it creates safety issues and a million other things.Typeing3 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 7:16 pm I bet you 99% of people who see those Vancouver obs on the news or online probably think the same if they haven't been here.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
LOL, sounds like BLI, which interestingly has also been one of the cooler spots during this event (though not as cool as YVR).
Last winter was sort of a role-reversal in that department. Won’t last. Payback will be a b*tch and I expect to get skunked on lots of future snow events. Arguably you are due for some good ones up your way.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Nice, there's an article in the Saturday Chilliwack progress on the temperature record on Saturday that volunteer station is about 2kmh from me. I'm sure that record was broken Sunday and then again today.
