Many of them were seniors and likely heat related deaths. Im glad my grandparents had AC cause it seems like a lot of vulnerable people did not  . Just wait til other jurisdictions start releasing numbers as well..
Not a surprise, and this sort of thing is doubtless happening throughout the PNW right now. Heat waves historically killed more people than any other form of severe weather in North America.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Ya i told my parents last thursday that this heatwave is gonna be deadly, I think they thought I was exagerrating a bit but they know I don’t usually fearmonger so they made sure my grandparents were prepared. I think they might finally invest in a good AC after this..my dad text me last night saying it was 35c in their bedroom

Haha, always the case. The rest of the region moderates and YVR bakes. Unreal.

We know the drill. Always happens either the last day of the heatwave or one day after everywhere else has peaked.

If YVR maintains offshore flow they could realistically challenge or break the record later today.

My coworker had a sudden loss of a loved one yesterday as well. I wonder if it was heat related.

The temperature in White Rock has dropped 1 c over the last hour :D

I was telling my friends EC's weather warning wasn't strongly worded enough. Turns out even that was an understatement.

Alot of people cannot afford places with AC. A good portable AC unit is several hundred dollars. Same story, the rich can sit in their climate controlled "smart" homes telling "Alexa" to lower the temp and can swim in their pools while the marginalized and the poor struggle and even die to heat related issues .

You mean the daily record high for June 29? Or do you think there's a chance of challenging the all time high? It's close to yesterday only 1.3c cooler then the same time yesterday.
