Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Environment Canada extended the heat warning through the rest of the week. I'm surprised as I assumed they would lift it this afternoon.
I posted the updated warning to the the warnings thread: viewtopic.php?f=111&t=91&p=581841#p581841

At Alta lake in shade was no problem , but strolling the village, yikes, foogetaboutit, it's murder, hottest I've ever experienced, but at least it's not humid like back east.

Unless that’s a thunderstorm cloud in disguise, on the visible satellite it looks like there is a second smoke plume going up west of cache creek.

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
I wonder if Canada had both the hottest and coldest temperatures in North America today... Perhaps not, but I'd bet there would be a chance on a day like today... Lytton was hotter than death valley california today

Re: June 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
The concern shifts towards the rapid development of forest fires and smoke we are going to see. I see no precip the next 2 weeks with temps well above normal.
We already have smoke in our mid layers.
Smoke could reach the lower tropo in the LM by the weekend.
If this province were wise then they would issue a travel ban and close up all the parks this long weekend. Sadly I see a lot of stupid people starting fires.

I see a yellow dot in North Dakota. Was that set during that crazy 1936 heatwave?

At least Canadians don’t tend to celebrate Canada Day by shooting off fireworks in the woods.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 5:02 pm The concern shifts towards the rapid development of forest fires and smoke we are going to see. I see no precip the next 2 weeks with temps well above normal.

We have also seen fires ignited because of gender reveal parties though...Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 5:08 pm At least Canadians don’t tend to celebrate Canada Day by shooting off fireworks in the woods.

Forget Whistler... you need to file a complaint with EC about that YVR station.Canada Goose wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 5:28 pm Forgot Whistler... bad location (overexposed).
