That's looking promising. It's so dry here I've started watering some of the big trees. The tops of many of the cedars are dying from multiple years of low water.

Re: July 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
Is it just me or are the geese heading north a bit early this year?
we've had 5-6 flights overhead these past 3 days, seems a bit soon
more importantly does this mean a colder winter in the south?
also on the topic of summer events predicting/not predicting winter events, when I worked at YVR in the 90's there was a bit of local/farmer's almanac belief that the number of foggy mornings at the airport is a predictor for local snowfall.
Have any of you heard of this?
I've never tracked it so have 0 idea if there is even casual correlation.

The Farmer's almanac is essentially on a level with a psychic telling you what your life will be. Guesses work out sometimes. The only possible connection I can see there is that SSTs off the coast leading to more fog, therefore potentially aiding with snowfall?moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 10:39 am Is it just me or are the geese heading north a bit early this year?

The Euro is around 10C warmer inland then at YVR for Friday and Saturday. I imagine the beaches will be busy.

The virus is significantly less likely to transmit outdoors than indoors from what I understand.SouthSardiswx wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 12:00 pm I wouldn't go Jr. man the Delta variant will be busy as well.

That's interesting. I work at YVR and haven't heard about that correlation. I'll have to keep track this fall/winter.moonshadow0825 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 10:39 am Is it just me or are the geese heading north a bit early this year?

12Z GFS was significantly drier for the coast compared to the 00Z.
Still shows some rain for the interior though, so that is a plus.

The GEM looks great for the interior as long as there isn't too much lightning around.

12Z Euro is less bullish on precip overall.

Well Bones your better off watching slugs to see if there's any correlation for cold in winter.
John doesn't like me calling you B****man so you've got a new nickname.
