The interior fires are beginning to flare up pretty good with smoke plumes beginning to turn from NW to N and NNE. Looks like we may see some sneaking into the Fraser valley as early as this evening

I guess the HRRR was on to something when it started showing smoke infiltrating the coast by tomorrow morning. Gets worse.

It has basically come down to, do you prefer 35-40c and clear or 30-35c with smoke? I guess I'll take whichever one kills the fewest of our most vulnerable. That's what this summer has come to.

The smoke forecast on https://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/current/ is not nearly as intense with the smoke as the HRRR. Likely would not impact temperatures at all. Does anyone know what model or models are used to produce the forecast?

And many or even most summers from here on out. Here's what its come down to...if you don't end up in a repeating low pressure pattern, you are going to scorch. Doesn't matter where you are, PNW, Siberia, etc.

I believe it is the Forestry faculty at UBC. It's their own model.
