Actually i darn right pisses me off!
A state of emergency in major BC cities and the local radio is all rebroadcasting crap out of Vancouver. PATHETIC!
Maybe if we actually had independently owned media rather than all owned by the same mega corps, we would have live reporters and reports relaying info LIVE on the radio!!! I have no idea how they get away with this. Your town is burning down and local radio is playing a feed from out of the city. IDIOTS! They should all have their licences pulled and forced to provide live local radio coverage.
Exactly NL610 is Global affiliated so its The Shift show from NW. CKFR 1150am is independent but there broadcasting some American programming.
Although Brett Mineers twitter he's a news reporter out of NL610.
We are going to cultus lake over the weekend but staying at a hotel in Chilliwack.... not sure if we should cancel or not. I see they are asking evacuees to go there. I have until Tuesday to decide.

Ya what is up with that? It was always said a wet may and June made mosquitoes bad yet this year it's been dry, so what the actual heck? Perhaps the Fraser River is breeding them? Or the stagnant water in all the ditches and small rivers, running through the flats.
But there's nothing much running in the central valley Houndsie, but there still attacking l have to spray off on my arms and legs still in August.

It's severely irresponsible of all the stations. Program directors hands are tied when all the commands come from Toronto by some idiot who knows nothing about anything going on in BC.

Agreed Houndhog, l grew up on local owners which gradually changed over the years to cookie cutter stations all programmed from eadtern based owners.
Jim Pattison is local but even his stations have gone the way of cookie cutter stations.
Look at the ratings Bloomberg radio 0.2% share.
Or 730 all traffic not much better under 1.0% share.
Although they have the Lions games now.
Yup, the CRTC are bunch of shills made up of former execs from the big 3 telco's. Useless to change anything for the better for the listeners. All back door deals. Glad radio is failing. I hope they lose all their money. It's events like this, and a lack of coverage or local coverage that illustrates why we need independently owned stations again.
