Abbotsford hit a peak wind gust of 145 km/h. :o
After this years record heat dome sure why not bring on a record wind storm for the region we can handle it. :wtf:

Ha true. But it's later in the summer so lower lows, less sun and if it's a quick hitter that's key as well. I wouldn't even call that a heat wave.

Actually our pumpkins, corn and other crops would love it. And it's looking likely there will be a decent rain before that.

That windstorm was caused by the remnants of typhoon Freda. Highly unlikely we see something like that again.

Region (Pacific Northwest) wide, no other windstorm in recorded history comes close to that large (impact wise) and anomalous , however there have been events that came close on a local level... I believe there was a storm in the 90s that hit parts of Oregon and Washington with wind speeds close to what was observed in Oct '62.

If you watch the video Ms. Creeks it appears the tower collapsed on land but the lines fell across into the Mississippi river.
Just goes to show how news reports can be misleading. non the less it's still catastrophic.

It's crazy that it's the last day of August! The 00Z EPSGram NCEP Control dipped below 5C on the 12th I think.
