Hwy #1 in Abbotsford will be closed for a while. Chilliwack is severed from the region.

I'm not sure, it was from a Facebook group, but it sounds like it was taken this morning.

Sad thing is within a week nobody will be talking about this and nothing will change. People should of been warned. They made a big deal about the weather “ bomb “ but nothing was said about the potential damage this amount of rain could do.

Just think of the back log of goods that has started. No way to get things in or out of the coast right now. I saw reports that there was some panic buying going on in the interior yesterday.

The hits just keep coming this year, so many extremes. I'm all for some exciting weather, but this is becoming a bit much.

Wtf. Perhaps I missed it yesterday but I just saw that hwy 1 at Tank hill near Lytton is totally gone. Combined with the damage on the Coq and the transportation of goods to the Interior is going to be impacted for weeks or months. Already seeing empty grocery store shelves in Kamloops
North end of Shawnigan Lake. Southern Vancouver island. 500ft

There needs to be slope assesments first to send in crews and equipment...then geotechnical assessments along the entire route with fluvial geomorphological assessment near the rivers. This will take approx 8 weeks but assessments may be hindered freeze-thaw conditions.

Temporary repairs could begin during the winter but full repairs will likely not be complete until September.

Hwy 1 near Lytton can be repaired sooner but my guess is a mid December opening.

I was going to say, how is this going to effect our supply chain and get things into BC? I assume the metro Vancouver area would be okay. Interior is where I see the problems happening. Worse time to happen right around the holiday season as well.
