30% of our fuel comes from Alberta. Livestock feed, potato and beef prices will skyrocket in the coming weeks.Weather101 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 9:20 am I was going to say, how is this going to effect our supply chain and get things into BC? I assume the metro Vancouver area would be okay. Interior is where I see the problems happening. Worse time to happen right around the holiday season as well.

This is crazy. My Prime Rib dinner was already 40 bucks the other night. It’s outrageouswetcoast91 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 9:22 am 30% of our fuel comes from Alberta. Livestock feed, potato and beef prices will skyrocket in the coming weeks.

Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I know for myself, I ship things back east daily. My shipments from yesterday are sitting in a UPS warehouse in Delta due to the road closures. Also, I am waiting on shipments to arrive here and they are stuck outside of the province. I'm just one person. Multiply that by all the other people/companies shipping/receiving goods daily. It adds up quick.Weather101 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 9:20 am I was going to say, how is this going to effect our supply chain and get things into BC? I assume the metro Vancouver area would be okay. It sounds like Hwy 3 might have the best chance of re-opening first, so at least some movement of goods can resume.

Give them a chance to wrap their heads around the highway problems. There is lots of engineering talent and equipment in the lower mainland. I think those time estimates will shrink quite a bit plus there will be heavy pressure to keep things moving.

Thanks for the insight because that really puts perspectives on things. You have holiday season, people ordering online for Christmas etc. You have to imagine more rain is going to delay the process as well.Catnip wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 9:24 am I know for myself, I ship things back east daily. Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Another thing I think we can learn about this is how amazing twitter can be. How fast you can get news out there. The local media were seriously to busy on the TV and radio talking about Covid and other bullshit. But social media was amazing and we were able to get the information real time. My generation gets all of our news from social media but I also grew up as a kid watching the news with my dad on TV. So it was disappointing seeing the lack of coverage.

Yea. I mean you can see HWY 1 is gone but also the rail lines have been undermined and the structure of that overpass probably compromised

Hard to grasp the absolute destruction out here, never thought I’d see something like this
