Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
When the Coq was built, It followed a similar path to the old KVR line. Thus why many of the exits are named after the old stations.
Interesting tidbit:
"This Coquihalla section was the most difficult section of the Kettle Valley Railway to keep open due to washouts, landslides, forest fires and the immense amount of snowfall each winter."

How far along the Coq does it run? I know Othello tunnels formed part of the railway, is that where it turns east towards the similkameen?Catnip wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 2:22 pm When the Coq was built, It followed a similar path to the old KVR line. Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
That railway was always plagued by disasters hence why they shut it down in 1961. You can actually still see remnants of rock beds if you ever follow the Coldstream River. Many of which have no been washed out.Catnip wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 2:22 pm When the Coq was built, It followed a similar path to the old KVR line. Re: November 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
It follows the Coq right up towards Brookmere, which is roughly 40km south of Merritt. Turns east there, then heads towards Princeton

This is amazing but maddening at the same time.
You've gotta think if the military base in chilliwack wasn't shut by the federal government back in the 90s, they could've really helped in this situation.
Even still, it almost seems as though the response on the local level is being left entirely to community groups with no government action or assistance whatsoever.
