Signs of positive heights building into Alaska in December on the 00z EPS. It will be nice to at least shut the Pacific down for a while.

12Z Euro is exactly what we don't need right now.

Getting nervous. Cold air building in Alaska along with a strong jet...perfect recipe for baroclinity out in the Pacific. There is a complete absense of blocking, and we may be out if luck until we see strong SSW episode.

My awesome eclipse photo. In my defence it was still slightly cloudy...and my camera doesn't take good photos after dark...(hmmm any more excuses? nope, can't come up with any more, still tired from staying up all night  ) I did watch some of it streamed online and it was great, so clear.

This winter has high potential to cause a meltdown on the American forums. While there is potential for it to be epic in terms of cold and snow, it also has high potential to be a dud. I'm concerned we could get stuck in a pattern of relentless AR rain events. Not good news so I hope I'm wrong.
