"According to CBC meteorologist Johanna Wagstaffe, the rain coming this week to the province's southern coast will last longer than the rain event that caused chaos last week. The affected area could see up to 100 millimetres by the weekend."
That's actually good news... less rain over a longer period of time.

Today was originally supposed to be very wet, but it turned out to be just a few showers. A few days ago, the mayor of Abbotsford was expecting 100 mm today, even though the models were showing more like 50 mm at the time. Now it's looking like <10 mm, so we caught a huge break there.

But because we just experienced a major rain/flood event, suddenly everyone is expecting worst for every storm. We should remember that such rain events are highly uncommon.

20cms is maybe not the best comparison. Probable 15cms max IMO, but even that wont happen often. Sea level...coastal...too many factors working against Sea Island

Pretty sure YVR averages more 20cm+ snowfalls over the period of record compared with other major PNW cities. Yet Seattle, Victoria, Olympia, Portland, Salem, Eugene have all had larger significant daily snowfalls during the last decade.

Ya, lately we seem to be on the dry side of things while the moisture heads South of us during those scenarios.

I'm still going with the thought of something decent will happen this year that will make snow lovers happy.

Here you go. Used Steveston data for 1896-1937 and YVR from 1938 onwards.
