Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: Mon Nov 29, 2021 6:53 pm Wouldn't say every single one, but it has definitely been the trend in the past several years that the GFS picks up on an extreme weather event first. Often, however, it exaggerates how extreme it was. In January 2020, it was forecasting high temperatures near 0ËšF (-18ËšC) at Bellingham. Coldest highs were actually more like 19ËšF / -7ËšC. Actual blast was also of
shorter duration than the GFS originally modeled.
Ya well they shuda toned down the cold to climo. Daaaa. But then again, it did get really cold so they picked up on that. A high of -7c hasn't happened too often in coastal areas around here lately. Also I think they had that cold in the clown range and it pretty much verified other than the stupid cold temperatures. Weren't they the first to say we were going to be at 44c in June? That looked just ridiculous until it happened

I maybe these long-range GFS solutions are fairly accurate after all
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)
