Looks like things might be changing. The way Cliff Mass was talking you'd think this July was going or be one for the record books in terms of rainfall (and for some interior locations like the Chilcotin it certainly is) but there's no way this July is going to be as cool and wet on the Coast as 2011 and especially 1993. I think 1997 was a wet one as well and I remember a week of rain in July 2007. But right now it's 25c in Coquitlam and we are heading to White Pine for a dip.

If it was hotter and dryer then normal it would also be blamed on climate change. Of course the climate is changing but the politics around this whole man made climate change crisis is absolutely ridiculous. Man contributes to a very tiny amount. This is not at all catastrophic as they are saying.

Jeebus man. That is an utterly absurd statement and you know it. Its sunny and warm with clouds and the odd rainy day. I really think you'd be into Arizona or further south. Also the gfs is so overrated I'm close to losing faith in it altogether. That last rain was so far overdone it was ridiculous.

Are you serious. It was cloudy/showery for most of the latter half of June and the first week of July. That is not summer like by any means.

Can we please keep the climate change debate out of the main thread? I'm getting sick of it.

I've seen how these debates play out, but I've never seen a single person change their opinion. It's pointless and only leads to division.

Nice weekend shaping up. This summer has been a mixed bag in terms of temperature and cloud cover, but it's still been relatively dry overall.

That is normal PNW weather. How long have you lived here? July at yvr tops out at 22C average temp. Doesn't scream hot to me. Cant you heat lovers let us cool summers enjoy our one nice summer a decade? These used to be common.

To add to this...the next 3 days at YVR are forecast to be 23/15 aka ABOVE AVERAGE. I haven't looked at the stats so far but I recall Monty saying his location is about 1C above average for summer so far. So I'm starting to wonder if you actually find it cold or if you are just trolling, because your posts have zero basis in reality.

Anybody else notice that the GFS has been doing the opposite of what it does in winter? i.e. in winter it throws a trough in as a teaser after hr 240, and it's a mirage, and this summer it's throwing a ridge in after hr 240, and so far it's been a mirage.

Here is some reality...the average high at YVR so far this July is sitting at 21.4C; this happens to be below average. We're not even halfway through the month and YVR has already recorded six days with precip. The average for the entire month is just under seven days.

Fact: through July 14th, this month has been cooler, cloudier and wetter than normal.
