Re: December 2021 Forecasts And Discussions
This happened earlier this afternoon in Hatzic prairie. Guess snowmelt from the mountains was still flowing down the tributaries, added in with the storm water.

It doesn't smell like snow here either.Hound wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 11:36 pm Wow, reading all those pages nearly put me to sleep!
I just came back from South Surrey and Gumps your thermometer must be wrong. I was reading between +2 and +3 there.
It was +2 on the farmlands which must be sea level.
Currently +2.5 here, with DP of -0
It does NOT smell like snow out there, but no wind, dead calm. Skies are mostly cloudy.
I was just writing about that. Did you know there's scientific reasons you can 'smell' the snow? Here's the article http://physicsbuzz.physicscentral.com/2 ... ifu_PmKzTk.
Olfactory scientist, Pamela Dalton, says there’s three main reasons:
• Because it’s colder things smell less so it’s more the absence of smell that you notice
• There’s higher humidity just before it snows and that makes our noses more sensitive
• And the physical feeling breathing cold air which gives us a certain sensation we often associate with smell even though it isn’t a smell
All three of these things together cause us to ‘smell’ the incoming snow.
