It's time for back to school kiddos! Canucks training camp starts very soon and we'll be tracking CFS clown range snow maps in no time!

NFL too, :thumbup: but not before I go on my final holiday rotation Sept. 4th looking forward to my new weather station begin the fall/winter work out.

Lots o lightning today. Thunderstorm passed over at 7 tonight. Within 10 minutes I had 7.4mm!

The north pacific is still on fire with patches of cooler water hugging the west coast. Cool anomalies near the equator. Feels very similar to 2016.

FWIW, I'm thinking cool neutral or weak La Nina this winter. Will need to start looking for analogues soon. Off the top of my head, I know 1970-71 followed a weak El Nino. Don't think many here wouldn't mind a repeat of that winter. :D

Ah yes I remember it well , it was my 2nd year in Vancouver with lots of snow as I thought I was still in Montreal , canucks 1st year in nhl , sardineman got a nerf ball for Christmas and had his first paper route and was able to save enough money to buy his first pet rock , hawk was in grade 5 when he got sent to the principal's office and got the strap for squawking in class and picking on Flamingo the Kid , John was cruising around the country roads of the Fraser valley and the village of Chilliwack in his Datsun B210 with a mercury thermometer taped to the antenna , ah yes those were the days.

I have good feelings for this upcoming winter. I think we see at least one major arctic blast and widespread snow event. :D :clap:

As is probably expected, the ensembles continue to show a mostly bone dry first half of September, followed by a more active latter half of the month.

18z looks wetter in the mid and long range. Swings thru a trough early next week which drops around 10-20mm on the lower mainland mostly on Sunday night and Monday.

Risk of a thunderstorm in whistler tomorrow afternoon which is where I will be , not holding my breath, was hoping for something in the kootenays but nothing materialized. :thumbdown:
