We have to remember it is very hard for even pro Mets to predict snow totals in this region due to so many micro climates. Not a big deal with rain but we freak out when predictions are off with snow.

Yes, if the forecast is for 7˚C rain and we get 9˚C rain, nobody much cares. If it's for 0˚C snow and we get 2˚C rain, everybody cares… a lot. And unfortunately, a lot of our snow events are in the latter temperature range.
