My grandparents owned the Marina in Mill Bay back in the 60s and possibly early 70s. My mom remembers the ocean frequently froze over back then. They used to move the wharves to an area that didn’t freeze some years to prevent damage. She remembers January 1969 and the ice was too thick for them to break up.
