The vast majority of this falls midweek. Shows widespread heavy snow but probably better with elevation.

#beginningoffeb will not be denied.
I believe it could be sooner this time. Last week of January is a decent bet.

For the stats keepers, where do we and YVR stand at snowfall so far? Have we surpassed the LT average?

They bungled the snowfall data on the 30th so nobody really knows the true figure yet. I heard 19 cm and 21 cm on Twitter, and if we say they got like, 2-3 cm this morning I think they may have just surpassed the 1980-2010 average?

GFS
Season total: 0.5 cm and TWO traces!
Peak depth: 0.5 cm (01/07/2026)

According to EC, YVR had 31.7cm in 2021. But the snowfall data from the past week is suspect. Specifically, the data shows 2cm on Dec 30th, when it should be closer to 20cm.
So in reality, YVR likely had about 45-50cm in 2021. Above the 1991-2020 and 1981-2010 annual averages, but not 1971-2000 or prior averages.

Oh we're counting calendar year. I answered for winter 21/22.

Yeah, the averages are for the calendar year so I never go by winter only.

Current temp 5.2°
DP hanging in there at 0°
Getting some SE winds but nothing like EC's warning of 70-90 k/hr , unless it's still coming later.
And as usual with SE winds , not getting any precipitation of any kind , even though EC keeps telling me of a 70-100% chamce.
