Ya. These maps really are for entertainment purposes only. Especially this season. Some have been spitting out some pretty silly snow totals.
*Maps are posted for discussion/entertainment purposes only, and not because I necessarily believe them to be true.

I don't know what is up with the Euro now. It used to do much better at handling the terrain in the region. Resolution has gotten worse recently.

Everyone needs to play nice with each other. We don't want to become like the AF. It was starting to bother our members. We want our community to grow, not people leave it. We don't want possible new members to be turned off.

Ever since the upgrade in mid 2020, it really has taken a step back.

It is what it is. Given recent model failures, how anyone could think it reasonable to take those maps at face value when temperatures are marginal is beyond me.

Those who find wintertime rain depressing need to   because there is a lot more where this is coming from. (Sure, it may snow later on this week, but mostly it is going to rain for the rest of the winter, just the way our climate is, sorry.)

Just never much seen any sense in false optimism myself. It usually leads to disappointment.

Just so bizarre. Doesn't make any sense.

You expect it with the GEM and GFS but the Euro is held to a higher standard.

There is nothing wrong with disagreement or even healthy banter back and forth. I even don’t mind Nito’s posts really because every now and then he offers up some pretty good and objective analysis. It’s a couple of members who seem to log on and look for any sign of enjoyment and then go out of their way to disprove or let the air out of the room. Over and over again. We all know and understand that some of these snow maps are unrealistic. I don’t think anyone needs reminding of that fact in every second post from certain users. That’s my take anyway.

Nah mate, facts shouldn't be depressing and if they are, it's a sign someone needs professional help. Climo reality checks have a place in a weather forum, so long as they're not memed too hard or used for gloating purposes beyond a couple good-natured exchanges (I'm looking at you, :tumbleweed2: ).

Many of us here have, quite reasonably, questioned snow total maps up until tomorrow AM. We are not dismissing the possibility of a surprise, just stating that they are unlikely for the next 12-24 hours, and there's nothing wrong with that.
2025-26 season stats:
Climo :cancel: ∞ to 0.5 :14clown: GFS

Season total: 0.5 cm and TWO traces!
Peak depth: 0.5 cm (01/07/2026)

Yeah, no idea. I just hope they are working on a fix and come out with an update soon.

Tbh, I think reminders that some of the snow maps are unrealistic is totally fine because some lurkers or newer members likely don't know and take them at face value. :sorry:
