I presume it's quite rare to see an area go from snow to freezing rain and back to snow,especially around here. Have you or anyone else seen this happen?

+2 and raining , but it's also looking fairly misty out there when staring at the street lamps...why am I still looking at street lamps?

Freezing rain.
Surfaces and trees really getting coated in ice now.
I cleaned off my car this afternoon and it was ice free. Now it's coated in ice.

Only experience was in Ontario.

I witnessed it in Portland in December 2008. Major snow-into-ice storm followed immediately by a second major storm that turned the ice back into snow. Some neighbourhoods had 50+ cm on the ground when all was said and done.

Walking through it went whoomp-wa-whoomp as one’s steps broke through the multiple ice layers.

If you told me before the season started that I could get 68 cm of snow between Dec 24 and Jan 6, split fairly evenly between the front, middle, AND back end, I may have sold my soul to guarantee the outcome.

I hear you, but I just can’t get that excited due to how little of the snow actually falling I’ve been able to enjoy. This has been a fun stretch, but not as good as I hoped going in.

I can kind of relate to that feeling as I was either sick or at work during 90% of this event.

Pouring out there. Already got some water ponding and localized flooding on the street. I dug out a path and uncovered one drain this afternoon but it's not enough if this keeps up. Gonna head out there again and see what I can do...

The warm air band isn’t that warm actually. Went up the mountain today. 0 degrees is where the snow stops on the trees. In many areas around Abby the rain has slush splats.
