Re: February 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Initial band associated with the warm front didn't provide much moisture. Should be another punch of moisture later (5-6) but may be too mild to generate much snow.

Is this the "ridgiest" winter since 2000-2001? Looking like it.

Going off memory I'd say 2004-05, 2009-10, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 were all ridgier. Could be wrong though.Coquitlam79 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 1:41 pm Is this the "ridgiest" winter since 2000-2001? Looking like it.

It's gonna snow. Question is if it's heavy enough to stick.

Actually..you become adjusted to it up there. 2c and sunny feels like 10c when winds are calm tbh. Once the sun goes past the mtns tho...time for a nice campfire at the firepit!

Re: February 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Surprisingly, November was really close to being a dry ridgey month. Just never saw that ridge amplify enough to steer those AR's northward. Would say this Jan/Feb is mirroring 2015 so far, which is odd considering the equatorial pac SST's. Not an El Nino, but may as well be.
It's been insanely dry the entire NDJ period south of the PDX area. Many interior locations are facing the prospect of a severe drought if the current outlook holds up. Potential for +ENSO next year could really tip the climate.

It started snowing downtown within 10 minutes of me posting that. It's not my fault it fizzled eastward. That's on Nito.

Re: February 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Seen a few episodes of falling flakes but no accumulation. Of course I’m downtown so no big surprise, but webcams don’t show much, either (and I have checked more than a few). Really starting to look like a bust so far as sticking snow is concerned.
Oh well, we scored pretty well around Christmas and New Year’s. Can’t win ’em all.

Undoubtedly. Nowadays in the west you either get pounded with ARs or you're in a desert.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 2:15 pm Surprisingly, November was really close to being a dry ridgey month. California will not be able to provide us food soon. You would think our planning for that would not involve paving over most of our farmland but here we are.
