Best air quality all week today… only in the moderate range.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Mattman wrote: Thu Sep 15, 2022 3:09 pm I wonder if we're in record dryness territory for the meteorological summer in some areas. After the first taste of autumn Friday-Sunday, I'm happy with a return to summer. A redux of 2012 is fine. Even if there's an offshore component per the 12z Euro, it's too late for any forest fire activity. Living in Kelowna at the time, I remember the last night of fire activity from the Okanagan Mountain Park Fire was rank 5-6. I watched it crest over Myra Canyon after it took out the trestles. Wind ahead of a cold front flared it that night. After that front and only ~5mm of rain, within 36 hours of that aggressive fire activity, smoke wasn't even visible. That's all it took. I bet after this weekend smoke won't be an issue from Hope nor Manning.
Meteorological summer is June 1st - August 31st, and June was fairly wet in most areas.

Astronomical summer is June 21st - September 21st, and it's looking quite dry for that period.

The two month period of July and August was the 2nd driest for Abbotsford, behind 2017. If September continues to be dry, we could be looking at some records for July - September.

Crazy. I haven't had any measurable rain... still under 1 mm for the month.

Edit: I made a mistake. I've actually recorded 0.5 mm for the month, which fell on September 4th.

Microclimates. I've also had no measurable rain for the month.

Yay! Finally got measurable rain. About 10 mm yesterday. Still have water in the potholes on the road tonight and it took quite a while for the rain to soak in yesterday the ground was so dry.

I was so happy with the 1 cm until I went to a friend's place in Gibsons, she had at least twice as much.
