Loving this weather but we need rain. It would be great if we had some rain in August and September now this type of weather in October would be fine but we didn't get any rain. It's like living in Arizona.

Not looking good for spawning salmon , hundreds found dead on the central coast , some streams and creeks down to a trickle.

Saw a story on that on CBC earlier this evening. Sad indeed. Similar must've also happened in 2012, the last time we had a prolonged dry spell from mid July to mid October.

2003 also. I do think when this pattern breaks is going to break in a big way.

That's in the Bella Bella region and they've had more rain than we've had in the last 3 months! At least some of our salmon streams around here are controlled by dams like Capilano and the Coquitlam rivers and they can always let a little more water out to help the fish spawn if it gets too low.

Have you ever seen Baker as bare as it is right now? I couldn't believe the lack of snow around the peaks of Squamish the other day.

Considering how much snow was still on Baker back in May and June no it is really stunning how bare it looks.
And just the haze/smoke added an eerie look to it. I can't believe l'm still wearing shorts in early October 2012 redux for sure,
I'm thinking it'll come to an end next week.
