Well, the goose will be happy with those rain totals by midnight tomorrow that should boost up October numbers

Yep. October will end slightly below average.

In Vancouver, 39.2 mm is missing.

Trick-or-treating in 1984 was BRUTAL! 6 degrees colder than the 2nd coldest Halloween on record (in the southern interior)!

Two warnings for tomorrow, wind and rain, can it get any better? :o :wtf:

We have trick or treating in the mall for the younger kids so at least they'll be dry, and doesn't it just add spookiness of the night to experience some wild weather? I remember a couple of years with last minute costume augmentations of winter wear including a year with a rainbow umbrella hat that was my dad's.

I vaguely recall having to bundle up for trick-or-treating in 1984, but I don't recall snow.

Somewhat unrelated, but does anyone remember waking up to snow on Nov. 1st in the early 90's? Would have been either 1990 or 1991 unless I'm completely mistaken.

chilly and wet weekend here means snow is likely in the Similks. Expected. It is November now. I will keep you posted. Or you can check the North Similks valley floor DriveBC cam here:

You're welcome for the link, buttees. Saturday thru Tuesday is the best time slot, with a focus on Monday. Enjoy.

I recall maybe late 80's one time..maybe 1987 or 1988 when it snowed around Oct 29 or so. I remember cuz that was second time within like 5 years in Oct. There may have been another one as well early 1990's as you say, but my mind is "foggy" on that one.

Per the hourly obs at YVR, snow began around 10pm on the 31st, so would have been after trick-or-treating had ended. Continued through 8am on the 1st, with 2.2cm being recorded.

The east and central island took the brunt of the storm with snow beginning earlier in the evening on the 31st and lasting through the afternoon hours on the 1st. Port Alberni recorded 34.2cm.

I lived in the Okanagan (Oyama) in 1984 and remember how cold it was for Halloween. -15.7 Halloween morning at Kelowna Airport. Very bundled up kids trick or treating that year. There was a big bonfire down by the packinghouse later in the evening and I recall everyone getting very close to it to stay warm! It snowed November 1 and 2, and then it warmed up. Just checked the amounts at the airport - 14.2 cm.

And then next year i.e. there was another early season cold spell in November. There are numerous record cold temps that still stand for the last half of the month. Some of the records beat the old value by over 10 degrees!

We used to see quite a bit of October/November mixed precip/slushfalls in the tri-cities. Seems like it's become a complete rarity post 2010.

I lived in Eastern Maple Ridge. I had November snow in 2011 I believe, October snow/slush in 2012 just to name two examples.
