I used to be in an earthquake preparedness community group and trying to get people/organizations to actually care about being prepared was like trying to pull teeth. Every excuse they have for being wilfully ignorant of the dangers a large earthquake will have here on the coast. Nobody is ready. They think it's never going to happen. That is why I made the comment, they need a dose of reality, people have been protected here from natural disasters unlike the rest of the world.

I support your sentiments and share your frustration, along with the completely irresponsible global ignorance on the risk of solar flares. Sorry I can take that particular discussion elsewhere. Suffice it to say that it is not simply a Vancouver problem, but I feel like everywhere there is ignorance on significant issues that can cause catastrophe, simply because of misperception of probabilities. OK back to yay snow and hope we miss the freezing rain

It's only 7 pm and the temperature is already BELOW the forecast low for tonight! It's going to be much colder than EC forecasts!

Similarly, Prince George and Kamloops are already at or near their lows for tonight.

Could be *very* cold by tomorrow morning if skies remain clear and there's not too much wind. Already -34.6°C in Princeton!
