Sounds like a downsloping effect, where areas closer to the mountains are hotter. But I haven't looked the models to see if this is the case.

Prime day fro some Harrison Lake trail hiking spotted a Blue Heron along the Little Miami River.
Stopped in at Muddy Waters cafe for a beverage l guess there Christmas sleeves are in season that ones for our Christmas fan Mr. Stuffers.

That would also account for the higher min temps at mid elevations, along with temps aloft being quite high. I recall the Burnaby Mountain station recording a low of 28-29c during the June 2021 heatwave, while lower elevations closer to sea level were around to 24-25c.
