EC says H16c with a mix of sun and cloud on Thursday for Abby, but Nito said 20c is possible, and i think he is right again. The threat is real. He's been calling the shots all winter and nailing the bullseye pretty much. Can you imagine how warm it will feel outside that day if the temps spike above the 16c like TheNito is saying

This was the winter outlook that I posted back in the beginning of September from Clarity... I believe it is part of BAM weather.

Looks like they were not too far off... perhaps Florida shouldn't say mild... but the overall pattern seems to have been a decent call.

Props to them.

This has been the outlook since last spring/summer. The +PNA/-QBO/+TNH config has led to our annual December and January warmspells the past few years. Just see no signs of this ending until the latter part of the decade, if at all.

Ya i dunno if models can predict years in advance..bit of a stretch Nito, but i guess time will tell, i dunno. If we gotta wait until the 2030's, i may not be around anymore then

Feb 1st, 37 years ago [1989]...
:alert: :chilly: :alert:
And for those of you who would like to hear of something more recent, in February 1989, believe it or not (how soon we forget), the Nanaimo daily newspapers were reporting:

"…A massive and unusually strong area of high pressure over the Yukon produced winds up to 150 km/h through some mainland inlets. These winds were expected to bring continued bitter Arctic air to the East Coast of Vancouver Island. On Tuesday…the temperature…dropped overnight to a low of -12.7°C, a new record for February 1."

"Thursday’s…overnight low was -10.8°C. Flurries were expected to interrupt periods of bright sun, as the strong Arctic ridge held stable. In Nanaimo harbour the atypical low temperatures ... produced a thin layer of ice. 'There are two inches close to shore and there’s a thin skim right across', said Protection Island ferry operator Hilda Banerd. 'Of course you can’t walk on it and most boats can get through.' Close to the Protection shore some boats were frozen to their moorings…."

"Friday’s…overnight low dropped to -16.7°C. Temperatures were expected to remain below 0°C for several more days."

Driving this a.m. and saw the mighty Golden Ears peaks almost exposed in the rain..and it looked like rain right up to at least 5200 feet elevation. Not good buttees, not good

Im so excited that we can enjoy #beginningofFeb with temps rising into the mid teens next week in the sunshine, possibly pushing towards 20c like TheNito said it could. I mean lets face the facts, he's probably right again!
