Maybe I'll just tell him to go on vacation again and schedule his flight to arrive back at YVR on Dec 23/24.

I don’t. I think it is a joke, but that may be my reliance on stuff I don’t need like a smart phone, fishing rods, boat, rv, etc. But they do expect two people to make that so it is 16.50 x 2. You know how much it costs to rent a one bedroom let alone own a house??? The cost of food? Rent in Richmond is insane. My friend is paying 2000 and has 4 roommates and going to school and working. The cost of living here is ridiculous, I'm just fortunate I was able to find myself in a good postion and took advantage of it so I make a good yearly Income.

Public sector sucks. People are too entitled and expect right now service for everything. These low paying jobs suck but the hostile people approaching the employees make it 10x worse. Even "higher paid" jobs like nursing and teaching suck due to abusive patients or parents.

Hmmm. Seems to be a trend emerging of these troughs digging too far SW and blocks being a tad too far west. Hopefully that changes.

So only an employer can tell you what you are worth. What you are worth and what you can get are two different things. Like they say, free market will decide. When construction and manufacturing are booming, people are taken to serve those industries. Those people make more money because it is per say crappier work. So there is a shortage of coffee servers. Should coffee servers get paid $30 to steal workers back? Well there you go with inflation. Seems like quite a common refrain from boomers that young people are lazy. We are not. We just know what our worth is.
