Soooooo, who's staying up tonight?
With no guarantees of cold and snow in our climate, I'm definitely staying up for this one.
Not me, I've got work in the morning. I will set a few alarms to get up and check periodically.

I'm becoming highly concerned about a major ice storm in the Fraser Valley Friday night through Saturday. Despite the models warming the surface temperatures, if the cold NE outflow persists as shown on the same models suggesting the warm up, then the heavy rain modelled would likely fall as freezing rain. Given the fact that we have such a deeply entrenched arctic airmass in place and plenty of cold to draw from in the interior, its highly unlikely we push out the low level cold with a persistent NE outflow. However, the upper levels will warm and therefore, the precipitation type in this scenario would be freezing rain and a lot of it. Widespread tree damage and power outages likely.

Any Westerners seeing any snow or getting virga'd out?
What about the Island folk?
It's dark and looks like it should be snowing but nothing

Currently -8.5c, dp -14.5c in east Coquitlam.
Pic from an hour ago -- a bit up the hill from my place looking NE towards the flats of Poco, Pitt Meadows and up to Golden Ears.

Took a walk around the River Road/Terra Nova area earlier. Absolutely gorgeous but cold!

A friend bought two Davis weather stations for his farm in Lumby (east if Vernon). Put one near his house and one way out in one of his fields. The thermometer near his house was -35 and the field thermometer recorded -38!
The ECCC Station closed in 2010, but in 2008 it was -35.5 and in 1996 it was -38.5.
