Light snow here. Probably 4-5 cm of accumulation over night.can’t tell from inside if it’s snow or ice pellets.

4 cm of ice pellets total. I don't know whether to count that in my snow or not...
I know that in the States, snowfall is considered the accumulation of basically anything solid that falls from the sky. Statistics used to list snowfall as “snow, ice pellets.” Would bet Canadian standards are similar, so count it. Plus there was snow involved as part of the mix here and I bet there as well.
It's called clown range for a reason.

Fair enough. I've put an asterisk on it though.

Also, changing my assessment. It's snizzle. Still fully solid when it hits my sleeve.

Interesting. It was definitely tiny liquid drops that were freezing on contact here. At least it was when I last checked.

Euro was showing a faster transition.

Canadian models got this all wrong.

Happened even faster than the Euro showed. Would have had at least three times the snow if the Euro had been correct.

I didn't realize freezing rain can happen when it's still so cold outside? It's still -8C here.
I've already seen freezing rain at -20°C...

Yeah this sucks but at least we had 2 other nice snowfalls before. This was always going to be the sad one since it changed to rain.

Not sure if this is correct, but why does it seems like every time there is a “risk” of freezing rain it ALWAYS comes to fruition. Does it ever fail?
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..

Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.

Models suck at predicting the transition to normal rain in this sort of situation, but they still are good at amount of moisture coming. And a lot of moisture is coming soon.

Worst case scenario involves 30 mm or more of ice by 10:00 am tomorrow if temperatures fail to moderate.

No doubt. Haven't seen a model bust like this in a while. January 24 2021 comes to mind. But anyways, you can't have it all. Its still been overwhelmingly awesome. This is just the cost of doing business.
