Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Light snow here. Probably 4-5 cm of accumulation over night.can’t tell from inside if it’s snow or ice pellets.

Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
I know that in the States, snowfall is considered the accumulation of basically anything solid that falls from the sky. Statistics used to list snowfall as “snow, ice pellets.†Would bet Canadian standards are similar, so count it. Plus there was snow involved as part of the mix here and I bet there as well.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 7:33 am Also freezing drizzle.
4 cm of ice pellets total. I don't know whether to count that in my snow or not...
It's called clown range for a reason.

Fair enough. I've put an asterisk on it though.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 7:39 am I know that in the States, snowfall is considered the accumulation of basically anything solid that falls from the sky. Also, changing my assessment. It's snizzle. Still fully solid when it hits my sleeve.

Interesting. It was definitely tiny liquid drops that were freezing on contact here. At least it was when I last checked.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 7:41 am Fair enough. I've put an asterisk on it though.

Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Euro was showing a faster transition.
Canadian models got this all wrong.

Happened even faster than the Euro showed. Would have had at least three times the snow if the Euro had been correct.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 8:27 am Euro was showing a faster transition.

Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Yeah this sucks but at least we had 2 other nice snowfalls before. This was always going to be the sad one since it changed to rain.
Not sure if this is correct, but why does it seems like every time there is a “risk†of freezing rain it ALWAYS comes to fruition. Does it ever fail?
Burnaby Mountain @ 365 m..
Stats? Fresh out of those. But I win anyway. I got all the inches.

Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
Models suck at predicting the transition to normal rain in this sort of situation, but they still are good at amount of moisture coming. And a lot of moisture is coming soon.
Worst case scenario involves 30 mm or more of ice by 10:00 am tomorrow if temperatures fail to moderate.

Re: December 2022 Forecasts And Discussions
No doubt. Haven't seen a model bust like this in a while. January 24 2021 comes to mind. But anyways, you can't have it all. Its still been overwhelmingly awesome. This is just the cost of doing business.Rubus_Leucodermis wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 8:35 am Happened even faster than the Euro showed.
