Updated snowfall warning:
3:47 PM PST Saturday 25 February 2023
Snowfall warning in effect for:

Metro Vancouver - central including the City of Vancouver Burnaby and New Westminster
Metro Vancouver - North Shore including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
Metro Vancouver - southeast including Surrey and Langley
Metro Vancouver - southwest including Richmond and Delta
Heavy snow is expected tonight.

Where: Metro Vancouver, the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Whistler, and Sea to Sky highway - from Squamish to Whistler.

Hazards: Total snowfall amounts ranging from 10 to 25 cm with local amounts near 30 cm over higher terrain.

Remarks: A significant weather system will push across the South Coast this weekend bringing widespread snow to the region. Light snow will intensify to heavy snow this evening.

Snowfall amounts will vary greatly with elevation and proximity to the water. For most regions, heavy snow will ease early Sunday morning with total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm. For southern sections of Metro Vancouver, heavy snow is expected to transition to rain overnight with total snowfall amounts near 10 to 20 cm.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.

IIRC that 9 isn't for YVR but rather Sand Heads Lightstation

getting the odd flake out here, temp 2.4c, we were as high as 2.6c but it's been dropping, dp steady around -6.5c

driving down the hill from Tsawwassen ceiling is very low to the north and west, could still see Burnaby/Metrotown but not much behind it.

Update: my neighbourhood is getting what appear to be snow grains right now. They are very dense in the air, making slight static-like noises against the windows, and already causing whitening against darker looking organic material (like dirt or brown leaves).

If this is gonna help build a base quickly I will not complain at all.

Light granular snow coating all surfaces. Yay! So it begins...
Now I can stay up all night working and stare out the back window.
