This is a massive victory for the banana belt at the end of february. At the start of this yesterday in your area... who would have thought?
Definitely a late season classic.
Picked up around 30cm during the day on February 23, 2018 so it is with precedent even in recent years!

26cm storm total in east Coquitlam. It's compacted to about 15-20cm now.
26 cm?! I just got out to take some photos and measurements and I had 15 cm in Downtown PoCo. Even after compacting, it's hard to believe there was 20 cm here.

’Tis amazing how much it has compacted here in just a few hours. Glad I made the effort to take a measurement at 5:00 AM.

I measured every 2-4 hours on the top of my plastic garbage can starting yesterday evening through 8am this morning. Cleared it off after every measurement.
Compacting is crazy with wet snow. If I didn't keep up with the measurements, total would be at least 5-10cm lower.
Case in point, depth has compacted to about 15-18cm now.

Never cleared mine off. I would probably have recorded 30+ cm if I had.

Hum, OK. You can't clear the snowboard after each measurement. I think it must be not more than 2 or 3 measurements in 24 hours.

Yup the late winter sun is killing it this morning. Down to maybe 6 to 7" now on wood partitions in the sun. Roads should be fine in an hour or 2
Sort of comes with the territory with a transition event, particularly one this late in the season. But snow is snow and it’s another score.
And we did get some sparkling cold clear days with a thick blanket of snow on the ground in December, so not much to complain about.

Maybe we had 18-20 cm here, maximum.
Haha. Now we have measurement rules for snow. I guess we have 2 different types?
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++
Willoughby Langley at ~320ft / Similkameeeens ~3400ft
Considering our warming climate and the 6 weeks we had in the middle of winter with nothing this has turned out to be a pretty good season. And there still may be more to come
So far A- in my books. Could easily go to A+ with another cupla dumps in the next 2 weeks or so.

If I got time it's what I like to do otherwise compacting totally kills the real amount that fell if you don't keep up since depth and total amount of snow are totally different.
This is especially pronounced during late season events... see YVR data from the February 2014 snow event for an extreme example. 24cm of snow in three days but depth never got over 1cm!
Also... relatively close locations can have some variation with the microclimates that exist across the region. In our case, I think you're about 2km to the east of my location. A difference of about 5cm total (if true) isn't that surprising at the end of the day.

The standard seems to be once every 6 hours. So Typer's total is definitely high, and mine is low. I could/should have cleared my board at midnight. Oh well. https://weatherworksinc.com/news/how-to-measure-snow
