Speak for yourself. Hopefully we get one of these in both July and August, plus the odd showery episode or two, and smoke season ends up not happening this year. (Also plenty of warm sunny days, of course, just w/o a months-long dry spell featuring the woods baking dry to a crisp and igniting all over the place.)
It's called clown range for a reason.

Careful what you wish for Typer!

:13fire: :wfoggy:

A couple of cold rainy days mixed in with some nice warm stretches of summer weather would be nice.

;)

Edit. I see Rubs also has the same thought.

Agreed! Why do we need smoke and fire ? When we can have plenty of warm days with a few rainy days mixed in lol

That would be Toronto's summer climate!

Far too humid for my liking though. Dry summers are much better.

Question:

Is there is any evidence that ENSO affects the humidity and dew points during PNW heatwaves? In other words, does El Niño promote dry heat events with low dew points and if so, would La Niña conditions also promote more humid heat events with high dew points?

Since the the difference between a heat wave with low and high dew points is a matter of ridge and trough position, and ENSO can affect the 500mb pattern, I wonder if there would be any correlation between the two ENSO states and the nature of our heatwaves.

What are everyones thoughts? And it's almost July 1st! Summer is coming. :D

I don’t know, Jr man. But, if I had to guess, I would think the PDO has a much greater influence on our dew points or at least overnight lows than the ENSO state. I am probably wrong though.

Oh definitely! The little time I'd spent in toronto a few weeks back wasn't pleasant for humidity. That being said if you have a place right on the water you can knock the 33c down to 26c just like YVR.

I just got back from vacation from Vancouver Island yesterday. I stayed in Parksville from Saturday until Tuesday. It was relatively cool yet mild at the same time. The weather was very much mixed bag with about everything in it. On Saturday night I noticed some lightning flashes over the ocean. Yesterday on the way home I drove down to Victoria but the way I went took me right past the infamous Shawnigan Lake Road. I then thought of our friend Shawnigan Lake :)
