Massively overstated. Feb 2017 and 2019 there was no daytime melting when it was cold.Hawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 11:20 am Ummmm Dec 15-30 2008 vs Feb 1-15. Higher sun angles and longer days will kill many of the benefits of those shorter days of Dec 2008. There will lots and lots of melting and sloppy, slushy events im sure.We will be in mid Feb at the end of these runs..pretty much time to move on from the snow. Tell em Nitro!!![]()

Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
yes, it CAN stay cold for 2 weeks in Feb, but we are racing against time, and time will always win 100%. I highly doubt we don't moderate at some point in the next 14, with daytime temps commonly in the +single digits, assuming the current models and temp profiles. Its easy to check on this. Lets check back on Feb 15!
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++

Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
I remember in 2019 there was no melt whatsoever in Richmond, and it was cold, even with the higher sun angles.
I'm not sure why a certain few people always troll before a big event to bring down the mood, yet days prior they are screaming how great this will be. So confused.

Re: January 2025 Forecasts And Discussions
We will be fine. Let's focus on February 1st to 7th with snow and cold before we worry about two weeks in advance. As we always say, "the clown range will clown." I have zero worries next week about higher sun angles melting snow.Hawk wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 11:28 am yes, it CAN stay cold for 2 weeks in Feb, but we are racing against time, and time will always win 100%. No, NAM hasn't gotten to the time frame of the bigger snowfall Sun PM into Mon AM. Stop sowing discord and panic.
Nito we allow because it's a bit and he actually offers useful educated input.

The nam is garbage. Shows a spot of rain where 925s are -6 and surface is -1.

The two maps posted show very little snow until Sunday night. So that's a bust if that comes true.VanCitySouth wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 12:08 pm No, NAM hasn't gotten to the time frame of the bigger snowfall Sun PM into Mon AM. Stop sowing discord and panic.
