Front on the map seems a bit off. Actual location to the NW is a bit further north up the island near Campbell River, and it's yet to push through some of the inlets further north on the mainland, east of the Island near Johnstone Strait (ex. north of Sayward, Alert Bay).

Ya right.

This is about to be a definite bust as I’ve racked up about 3cm I think. Probably start drying out soon.

I kept waking up, lookingoutside and seeing very light snow so I kept going back to bed, now I'm up I can see about 1cm on the fence. Nothing too notable.

Current: -0.6 DP: -1 Hum: 96%

Not snowing now.

Wind is picking up though, it's blowing the snow off the trees.

Is that low actually tracking across the central island? It was supposed to slide down the west side. No wonder we're getting screwed

Okay this is looking insane outside right now. I would be shocked if we don't get at least 40-50 cm. Would any weather experts venture to jump in and explain... is this sea effect snow from Howe Sound?

For those on the Island. Front has pushed through Bute Inlet and is currently near Quadra Island and Cortes Island. See wunderground stations linked below.

I was just thinking the same, we are getting hammered here. Snow won't let up just keeps coming, will be white out conditions when the outflow kicks in. And yes I'm thinking over a foot by later tonight ❄️
