At least if it is dry it will melt more slowly than warm rainwetcoast91 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 8:53 am As expected the GFS has done away with all moisture. We see light advection precip with 1500m freezing levels for a few days then right into a massive ridge. It is looking quite dire for the Mountains going into the spring.![]()

Ty my man your bike shots are gold can l make a suggestion how about one on the Patullo bridge before she closes for good. I know at some point there will allow people to walk across her before the tear down begins. Your bike shot on that bridge would be a master piece.

Looks like a North Atlantic SSW event. Siberian ones seem to be better for us.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 10:57 am Looks like cold will dominate out Eastward with a potential SSW event that favours E based cold until mid March.
We could see a very warm and dry period until maybe late March and April. The Euro spat out some mid teens temps with sunshine![]()

1C and sunny here after a few light flurries this morning. I think we’ve had at least a dusting every day this month except for maybe 1. Still 15-20cm on the ground.

I've heard that too, although wasn't the one in February 2018 a North Atlantic?

2018 did not feature a semi-permanent +PNA ridge driven by a GOA/Aleution low. A SSW event is not a given from this far out but if it does verify then it will be more favorable for cold East of the Rocky's. We likely get a head start on Spring as inversion season ends.

Yeah I don't want to get too political but he seems to be taking a stand. I think we should all switch to Bluesky eventually, this X thing has become a cesspool anyways. Twitter was great but those days are gone

I think you've forgotten how terrible that winter was outside of the arctic fart around christmas and finally the -PNA period that started mid feb and culminated in a fairly nice arctic blast with a good snow event across the lower mainland.wetcoast91 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 12:55 pm 2018 did not feature a semi-permanent +PNA ridge driven by a GOA/Aleution low. Then again, we had a nice period of northwest flow that stacked up our snowpack in mid january, followed by an epic March/April in the mountains. I suppose you could also throw in November too, a nice cold snap around the 3rd and some decent mountain snows.
On second thought, that winter comes out as fairly average if not slightly above. Just the timing and or/details didn't quite iron out here until late february.

A few flakes coming down!!
Dark cloud overhead and blue sky out the window so I don't think it'll be snowing for long but it's sure nice to see.
