But the 101 scandals by the liberals is perfectly fine. Like myself and others have stated, it doesn't matter what liberals do or say, they always get the benefit of the doubt, public quick to forgive.

Boomers voting liberal beware.

If you own a home, particularly if it’s paid off, congratulations. You’re about to become the government’s next target.

I could see having some kind of limit to the capital gains exemption on a primary residence. The USA already taxes capital gains on a primary residence over $250,000 ($500,000 for a married couple filing jointly). Other countries are considering similar measures.
Many OECD countries fully exempt capital gains on the main residence. There is some justification for exempting a
portion of the capital gains on sales of main residences, in particular as this may reduce lock-in effects. However, capital
gains tax exemptions for main residences create distortions across savings instruments, raise equity issues, reduce tax
revenues, and may place upward pressure on house prices.

I am a homeowner, so I would be affected, but I don't think the idea of a limit to tax-free capital gains is necessarily a bad idea.

Not a wise move for the Conservatives but to be fair, they have been announcing their policies throughout the election campaign.

I thought the Social Credit was the huge party that collapsed in B.C. politics back in the early 90's. :o although their bio said they dissolved in 2023.

It's getting very close on the latest EKOS poll. Conservatives nearly tied with Liberals.

I heard there's a blue tsunami about to hit Vancouver Island , with enough power to possibly engulf most of the lower mainland.

Did you use pen or pencil ? My son-in-law brought his own pen , using pencil opens the door to possible shenanigans, which didn't occur to me until he mentioned it. I used pencil :|

Conservatives have released the platform now. I might have seen someone post the report here already, but the government has released a bleak looking report for Canada by 2040. I think this is a report by the Liberal government.

I think the election will be closer than the polls suggest. People under boomer age seem to leaning Conservative. I'm not sure how much of this is captured by polling, since younger people don't typically respond to polls which are conducted by telephone (most younger people screen their calls).

That said, I still expect the Liberals to come out with a minority. The Conservatives have been gaining some momentum, but I think it's too little too late.

The USA has absolutely crazy tax laws. My wife's grandma is 93 and a US citizen who has lived in Canada since the early 1980s. All of her wealth is in her ranch in BC. When it sells upon her death or earlier, she will owe the US government capital gains tax.

Also, you must file your taxes in the US even if you haven't lived there for 50 years (my mom for example). The other countries who have this rule for ex-pats are dictatorships like Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and North Korea.

Agreed. Also old people vote more often so a lot of the young people saying they're voting conservative will simply not show up. The Liberal lead is slipping away, but by next money it will probably still be enough for a minority.
