Thinking we will predominantly see an East based cold setup next month now. There's no real substantial blocking out in the pacific to facilitate any meaningful cold West of the Rocky's. Cold is building in the Yukon which will probably dump into the Midwest and progress eastward in early December.

I'm going to Ottawa for Christmas. I'll be there December 23rd to the 26th. Should be plenty cold there. Maybe I'll luck out and catch a snowstorm before the cold shifts west in January. Would be a real treat to experience winter both back east and out here. But I'm probably dreaming.

I think we may be waiting for the late December through mid January period (i.e. Dec 20-Jan 15) for any meaningful cold air, although seasonal weather at this point is good for mountain snow. Been a very warm start to November and have some catching up to do in that department.

The MJO is modelled to go into phase 7 around the beginning of December. Normally this would bold well for us but the SSW may actually work against us this time. It's hard to say though as the models can flip back and forth dramatically at this range. I still think it snows next month.

It should be noted that the models usually go into complete chaos leading up to SSW events so I'd take the clown range with an extra grain of salt.

06z gfs is very ridgy. Sorry Goose, but it looks like a very dry run to end November. Precip will likely end up well below normal. On top of all that, any lowland snow is very unlikely at this point

Yeah a tad bit insane Abby sr. seems Mission east is a no go zone for frost so far this season. It's weird it seems the wind has kept temperatures up during the clear mornings dang.
