The Pacific begins to quiet down around Dec 20th. Hopefully that feature NW of Hawaii anchors as a cut off low (ie Kona low) allowing a block to finally anchor itself into Alaska.

Comparison below Dec 12th vs Dec 20th.

Would be nice if something shows up in the models later this week.

Test out the arctic outbreaks can sometimes follow AR events theory.

In the meantime….

Catnip has moved to a higher hill 1500m high in the Rocky Mountains and has seen 20cm of snow while T3 located 200m below him saw wet slush.

Stuffradio is ecstatic about his banana and pineapple plantation producing a massive yield in Maple Ridge.

The pattern coming up in the LR could deliver some historic warmth if we get decent mixing and downsloping winds. We're talking about +14C to +18C. That is a very unique setup that is bringing in tropical warmth in the upper levels.

Haha, yup. The models are about as bad as they can get right now. Oh well.

We’ve been here before… just need to wait this one out for a bit and hope something more favorable follows this current pattern.

Chart of Whistler snow base at the beginning of December. I am noticing a downward trend.
