5:41 AM PST Tuesday 9 December 2025

Impact Level: Moderate

Forecast Confidence: High

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

What: Rainfall amounts from 60 to 80 mm.

When: This evening though Wednesday evening.

Where: Fraser Valley, Manning - Skagit Valley and Highway 3 near Sunshine Valley.

Remarks: An atmospheric river will arrive on the south coast of BC bringing heavy rain tonight through Wednesday. Warm air with the system will cause freezing levels to rise and snowmelt combined with the rain may result in high streamflows and localized flooding.

Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas.

Don't drive through flooded roadways.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #BCStorm.

For more information about the alerting program, please visit: Colour-coded Weather Alerts.

In effect for:

Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford

Canada Goose wrote: Mon Dec 08, 2025 5:43 pm I would just like to point out that we are not (yet) experiencing a very rainy December.

Rainfall since Dec. 1:

99.0 mm Coquitlam-Burke Mountain (monthly normal [2014-2024]: 375.1 mm)
55.4 mm Abbotsford (monthly normal: 179.8 mm)
46.8 mm Vancouver YVR (monthly normal: 158.3 mm)

So that's totally NORMAL so far.

Many seem to forget that December is the 2nd wettest month of the year and that the averages are very high.
Depends on location. I'm at just under 90 mm which means I'm on track for about 350 mm. Normal is 211 mm. ;)

The long range ensemble makes some really nice changes. Storm I'd love to say Dec 19 but I'm thinking a little later still, personally.

One saving grace is we won't have the snow melt we had in November 2021.
