Good to see that arctic air in Yukon/NWT/Northern BC/Alberta finally making it's way into the interior on the long range charts. Been brutally cold up there recently, even by their standards. Cold onshore flow for us at the coast with lots of rain here and snow above 800m. Local hills will be very happy. Snow potential down to sea level if a system to our south develops and tracks SW to NE as we will be on the north side of the low pulling weak outflow out to the coast from the interior.

That cold pool in the interior is something to watch on future mid and long range model runs if we're looking for signs of arctic air making it out to the coast as the 500mb pattern may turn more favourable around or after Christmas.

My guess is that by the time these pineapples are done in a few days, we will have just experienced one of our warmest ever Nov 1-Dec 15 stretches. This is total Nino-like. So Sad. Its the new climate, like Northern Cali winters now. Tell em again Nito!!

In the drought stricken Similks you're wondering? The next 4 days look like this according to EC:
H 5c-11c and L 0c-2c with on and off rain

Normals: H -3c / L-9c :(

with the mountains almost as barren as the local mtns :cancel: :flakey:
Looking forward to our first 3 day stretch of sun and 20c++ 8-)

You can say this (and you're right) but don't dare suggest why.

So far it looks like things just go a little far west and stay unamplified to get arctic air through the canyon. Hopefully at this darkest time of the year we can squeak out a good old fashioned sloppy marginal snowfall.

Yep. Slush and cold rain for many. A crazy amount of Mountain snow. You could do way worse. :dunno:

With the GFS currently showing -7/-8 850's I think we'll be in a decent position to potentially see that. Still a bit to go though.

Good news is that either way, the mountains will look much better soon.

Wonder if these are different areas than 2021. I know they did a lot a reinforcement work along the banks after the 2021 floods.
