Models are a mess in the clown range. No signs of any meaningful arctic air. Absolute crap climate right now.

Yeah. This has been an absolute waste of time. I'm thinking if we don't see something soon this one might be getting forked. Oh well. We were due a 5-8 year dud period. We're already through *checks notes* one year?

Re: December 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
I'm not sure that we'll get a 5-8 year period of duds but even if we do, it shouldn't affect me too much as me and my parents still plan to relocate to Ottawa in the spring of 2027. Still a ways a way but I'm definitely looking forward to being closer to my family as well as a change of scenery and a much more desirable climate for my weather hobby. Should get my fair share of humid heat in the summer and snowy cold in the winter.

Looks that way. Here's the latest forecast from the Climate Prediction Centre:Typeing3 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 10:49 pm 100th anniversary of the infamous 1925-26 winter (AR fest and no freeze in Victoria) and we're getting a repeat!

Unfortunately, there's just no credible signs of a significant pattern change anytime soon. Maybe we'll get an arctic fart in February.Key Messages from the NOAA Climate Prediction Center
Issued December 9, 2025 and Updated December 22, 2025
Long-Duration Atmospheric River Pattern Continues Across the West
A Bering Sea ridge and northeast Pacific trough will keep atmospheric rivers aimed at the western U.S.
During the busy holiday travel period and beyond, impacts may include flooding, landslides, and difficult mountain travel. Burn scar areas could see flash flooding and debris flows, and power outages are possible due to strong winds and heavy precipitation.
(a) Heavy Rain / Heavy Snow / High Winds / Flooding
Moderate risk (40-60%) of heavy precipitation on Dec 30 across western Washington and Oregon. Slight risk (20-40%) extends through Jan 5 for much of the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. Flooding is also possible for the Pacific Northwest and coastal areas of Northern California.
Moderate risk of heavy snow for the Cascades and the Northern Rockies Dec 30-Jan 5 and for the Klamath Mountains and Sierra Nevada Dec 30-Jan 3. A slight risk includes the Central Rockies Dec 30-Jan 5.
Moderate risk of high winds from the Pacific Northwest and Northern California to the Northern Rockies and Great Basin. Strongest gusts are most likely along the coast and at higher elevations.
(b) Widespread Precipitation Across the West
The forecast supports widespread active weather. Above-normal precipitation is favored across the entire West Dec 30 - Jan 5 with the greatest chances (greater than 50%) across the Pacific Northwest.

Too cold in the Prince George area for skiing, ski areas are closed
Why not try cycling to work, grocery store, anywhere!

Good chance we’ll see some snow tomorrow. Looks like a little bit of arctic air will spill out of the canyon.

925mb temps skyrocket in the morning as the warm nose rides up the entire coast. Downsloping winds in the PM could shoot up temps into the mid teens.

Re: December 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
I wish you luck in that. Keep in mind, the east is just coming out of one of their greatest "slumps" of winters in history. Duds all over the place. This isn't restricted to the PNW. Great winters are becoming confined to one small corner of the world, in this year's case it's the far Northwest.AbbyJr wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 10:47 pm I'm not sure that we'll get a 5-8 year period of duds but even if we do, it shouldn't affect me too much as me and my parents still plan to relocate to Ottawa in the spring of 2027. Re: December 2025 Forecasts and Discussions
What we need here is a complete model failure within 48 hours and the low shoots off to the north east instead and we score some snow. We can dream.
