I won't because I am a giant nerd, but this winter thus far almost makes me want to get rid of the WxBell subscription. :tiredos:

Another great winter out east. Sigh. I'd love to experience this again. I just wish Vancouver would get some snow.

Saturday still on track to be our coldest day of the winter so far.

A bit of outflow in the Fraser Valley with that push of modified arctic air into the southern interior as it clips the south coast. 850mb temps will dip to -9c.

To be fair, 2017 wasn't too bad (18th coldest since 1937).

The fact that January 2017 is the coldest in 33 years is very telling.

Especially given the fact we've seen a few top tier cold Decembers during that timeframe as well.

Threshold for a cold January @ YVR (imo): monthly mean <1c
Threshold for a cold December @ YVR (imo): monthly mean <1.5c

For December, that's not that bad.

Yeah, my point exactly. We are capable of seeing cold Decembers in the past 30 years, but not January. Odd!
