It has started snowing here, but it isn't what one would describe as "nice", like the dry stuff we had 2 and 3 days ago. I kind of sounds like large, juicy moths, crashing into the concrete.

Okay I have had it.
Hawk, you DO poke people until they explode and then act surprised when they do.
W101, you are not being much better by yapping back and getting into it when it didn't even involve you in the first place this time.
GIVE IT A REST, BOTH/ALL OF YOU. My goodness.
VCS out.

Re: January 2020 Forecasts and Discussions
Interesting tidbit on the Weather Cafe Blog. Also looks like decent ski conditions ahead.
The last week of Jan is looking VERY WET, with a colder air mass will be ‘supervising' the storms that come onshore. FEET of mountain snow, maybe several inches in the coast range, too. Inches of rainfall at valley levels are possible, esp western WA & lower elevations of BC.
February is trending to start very WET will lots of snow in the mountains. We are watching the upper level wind & the Yukon High pattern to attempt an early peek at what Feb will bring. In the meantime, the other words - Rain & Wind - will be the main play at the surface through the end of January.
Ponder Point: The Taal Volcano in the Philippines. This is developing into a major story (severe-weather.eu). The eruption last week (Jan 12) was amazing enough (ash blasted 9 miles high), but now scientists are monitoring an increase in earthquakes, large fissures (cracks) appearing, and rising ground levels - over 15 inches; all pointing to a potentially explosive eruption that may cool the earth for a period. Think 1991 Pinatubo eruption. Worth the Ponder
