I've said this before a few times but I think this winter is going to be disappointing one with all the hype.

That's pretty much every winter. Nothing new!

We are heading for Aleutian low, +EPO, progressive suckfest for awhile IMO. I thought we might have a shot at something in November this year, but that ain’t happening. I do think December will be the warmest to average month of this winter. Hopefully I’m wrong and things get blocked up again by the second week in December

Going to guess we see a winter of close calls but no real arctic blasts. Just dont see any extreme cold around the globe right now.

For the 15th year in a row I’m going to go all in for January and we break the January curse.

Honestly though. I think January will deliver something good this year.

!998 was a La Nina year, with a cold blast just before Christmas- it sucked at sea level the rest of the winter. 1988 was also a La nina we had a little snow with marginal temps, just after new year's 1989- the end of January through mid February and the beginning of March were good, cold and had a few snowfalls. I don't think we'll know, until it happens.

It's a little disconcerting. We need the arctic to be cold to get a true arctic blast. But I think we'll get something.

Meh. We can do better. 3-5 days of cold wedged into a very mild month isn’t all that impressive. The Fraser valley did a little better than areas further west. We only saw 2 sub freezing highs and the monthly average was warmer than normal.

Agreed. We had one very cold day with regionwide highs around or below -6c sandwiched by a couple other subreezing highs but overall the cold snap last January wasn't very significant compared to previous events in the general timeframe.

YVR still hasn't dropped below -10c in January since 2004 and our last "cold" January was way back in 1993.

UNBELIEVABLE amount of snow this year at the ski hills. Sun peaks as over 1m, for example with all the runs opened with no bad runs. It's extremely rare to have opening day like this.
