Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Just to add to the Bell discussion, I know from buddy who’s an on-air Bell media employee in Scarborough, at least for now, that those who felt the axe last week got told via robocall message, or failing that, a soulless email.
As a taxpayer, this pisses me off even more when we learned that Bell took $122M in CEWS money, specifically earmarked to help long term employees during Covid (as bridge payroll financing), to then turn around, use said money to issue dividends to shareholders, then turn around and fire said employees!
Yet, will Bell feel the wrath of CRA for this use of taxpayer dollars? Hell no!
Will we, the peons of society feel the wrath of CRA for any slight errors on tax filings etc? Hell yes!
Rant, done!

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
Weatherwise, my drive out to South Surrey and back was cool. The temp was +1 from 152 & 20th all the way back until I got to Fraser Heights were the temp finally went to +0 There was ice on the fields but the fields are not full of water like 2 weeks ago. No skating I guess unless you hit the Fen when it freezes, Tyweather. I don't think we reached our forecaster High. My record shows I hit +2 mid afternoon. Salt trucks were out all day putting brine on the streets.
Looking forward to some outflow!

Agreed. You nailed a few good points and clarified. Huge media corps like this need to be broken up in my opinion. This has done NOTHING to help Canada or Canadians. It all benefits the shareholders. The CRTC is also a gutless entity that needs to be dissolved because it does jack all to keep diversity and fair play in media broadcasting.Willoughby wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 6:09 pm Just to add to the Bell discussion, I know from buddy who’s an on-air Bell media employee in Scarborough, at least for now, that those who felt the axe last week got told via robocall message, or failing that, a soulless email.

Ya, another usless station. Who knows, with a rating that low, it might be next to go down the line.Sardisbcwx wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 5:58 pm Wow! and yet Bloomberg radio 1410 is still going with a dismal 0.2 share in the last ratings book.

We used to have decent AM/FM stations in Vancouver, now they are all cookie cutter garbage.
Oh Man, I'm gonna get a ticket from Sheriff Goose for off topic, lol.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
The problem is, they do this because our attention spans are so short, they can get away with it. We were pissed when Rogers fired Russ Lacate, but now I can't remember the month it happened.Hound wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 6:16 pm Agreed. You nailed a few good points and clarified. Comedy? That's hilarious....not. If I want comedy I come here...Hound wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 5:48 pm Yes, Bell, the bottom feeders from the east just ruined a bunch of people lives. Killed a station they had no idea how to run and they also made HUGE profits this year AND got some kind of bailout from the government regarding covid. Absolutely disgusting. As someone who worked in broadcasting I have to say that radio is the WORST most toxic environment to work in because you have zero job security and all these corps that own and run these stations from back east have no idea what the west wants or who is important to who. They care about nobody and will fire an entire staff at the drop of a dime. Word is it will become a comedy station like the one in Calgary, so in other words complete crap. Radio stations were better off when they were locally and privately owned. 1040 is still streaming a pretty interesting playlist of music:

You can copy that into your media player or it should open in firefox.
End Rant. (I'm still pissed they did this to Russ Lacate) That was Rogers.

-3ËšC, which is my forecast low for the night per the NWS. Bust!
I'm thinking -6ËšC is more like it.

Re: February 2021 Forecasts and Discussions
I don’t think there really is, or is going to be, one. Instead of a sudden, dramatic influx we’ve had this slow leakage. It’s about to get windy, but it won’t get dramatically colder in a hurry like originally forecast.
